A Red Fox in Georgia, not looking very red I’ve never been to Svalbard, so I haven’t ticked off polar bear, but I have seen brown bears on a number of occasions in both Romania and Bulgaria. My first sightings were on a rubbish tip not far from the town of Brasov in Transylvania. Why not the stoat family or the badger family?)

There’s a Sloth Bear in tall, dry grass, barely 50 metres from us, but all we can see is a dark, shape-shifting shadow that eventually becomes all but invisible. He has earned his tip. On a branch above the road, one Black-winged Kite is scratching its throat and… we brake! The Telia Lake. Very dusty Swarovski CLs.

Licking Clay: the Macaws of Tambopata, Peru

The crowd of macaws is soon joined by parrots arriving as if on cue and bearing their colorfully named body parts: Yellow-crowned , Blue-headed , White-bellied , Orange-cheeked , and Mealy – followed by two species of parakeets – Dusky-headed and White-eyed.
