I saw two Pitta species at Hongbenghe, both among the slightly less glamourous among the pitta family: The Blue-naped Pitta … … and the closely related Rusty-naped Pitta. If you are afraid of spiders, you might want to get a pet Streaked Spiderhunter. I am only joking! Birds should be free.

It seems they kept a pheasant as a pet for the chick. Once the egg has been laid, the female is chased away and the males hatch it.”
