For comparison , the System is much smaller than the Bureau of Land Management (about 247 million) and the Forest Service (192 million), but slightly larger than the National Park Service (80 million). The System also protects bison , bighorn sheep , panthers , elk , grizzly bears , manatees , and ocelots , among others.

My attention was drawn upward by the elegant flying-knife form of an Osprey bearing a large fish. If the Osprey made the Ravens look big, the Eagle shrunk them down by comparison. This is something to bear in mind when reading fables. I identified it, smiled at its luck, and moved on.

I travel more than the average bear and I can say that unless I’m in Central America…TSA agents are a mixed bag of race. I know Starling has done some travel, but not a lot and wouldn’t have a good basis of comparison of all TSA workers. I would say that most of my interactions have been with white people in the US.

Am I willing to give up the field guide which bears the mud and dirt of so many falls on so many birding trips? David Sibley notes in the Introduction that the order has been changed in some places so similar species could be placed next to each other for comparison purposes.
