With birds like Ornate Hawk-Eagle and Snowcap possible, how can you not take up birding while living in Costa Rica? There are other birds still expected, I have a few in mind that probably also occur somewhere in the border area with Nicaragua (hello Altamira Oriole and Ladder-backed Woodpecker ).

One of the great things about living in southern Arizona is our proximity to Mexico. Golden Eagles soared over head, Ladder-back Woodpeckers, Costa’s Hummingbirds, Broad-billed Hummingbirds ( as seen at the top of this story) , Cactus Wrens could be seen almost anywhere in the canyon as well.

According to eBird, the chronology of my life list includes White-Headed Woodpecker at No. ” Southern Arizona , including visits to Ramsey Canyon Preserve and Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve. For example, not much can beat the experience of seeing a Bald Eagle scare up thousands of Snow Geese at Sacramento NWR.
