About a year ago I posted information about the launch of a new stem cell therapy for dogs ( Vet-Stem ). This therapy uses adult stem cells to help injured dogs and dogs suffering from arthritis. Since the launch Vet-Stem has treated more that 1800 dogs and more than 5,000 animals total.

The vet recommended a minimum of 5 days of treatment. I'm terrified that the vet might stop the treatment, and I don't want these pups to suffer or worse. The vet has stressed the importance of completing the full treatment for a chance at recovery.

Hello everyone sad day for me as stated above my black lab (7 yrs, M) is suffering from internal bleeding and the vet said surgery will cost anywhere from 4-11k, I’m blessed with a job but unfortunate reality is I just don’t have the funds to cover the costs.

He had a corn removed Thursday morning, left the vet looking just fine and happy to be rid of the pain, and by 5:00 pm yesterday, after we were told that he had a less than 5% chance of survival with days of intensive treatment, and after consulting friends who are vets, we decided to euthanize him.

You may recall that when I took him to the vet (and at that time I thought he was a she) I asked them to check him out and they said he looked fine. So his suffering was basically prolonged because he looked good on that one day, and because testing is done only if there are symptoms. He didn't look at all comfortable.

Choosing to adopt a dog rather than get one at the pet store (or what some like to refer to as “puppy mill”) is a beautiful thing—essentially you are saving a poor pup from euthanasia and you’re providing a an animal with a good home. So make sure that you can have animals and that your place is large enough.
