One raft of 20+ Mallards swims by the bank, right in front of jackals, careless like if they were just two sheep! After the Common Starling , my second bird of the morning becomes the largest eagle of Europe, the White-tailed Eagle , this one with a fairly white tail, yet still dark beak, that I estimate to be in its 3rd calendar year.

If you live in or near a more rural area, many farms will also take dogs at an affordable rate, providing both boarding and a host of opportunities for playing outside and interacting with farm animals.

Archaeology has demonstrated that humans were crafting collars for their animals at least 7000 years ago and the possibility that this is a conservative estimate is large. They are rock stars in their family (or group of families, depending on what taxonomists have been smoking lately), a family that includes Scarlet Macaws , Crimson Shining-parrots , Golden Parakeets and Rainbow Lorikeets , and that is no mean feat. Kakapo are bird rock stars.
