Birding Chongming Island in summer

Not professionally – these people come in SUVs and probably never recapture their gas money from the fish they catch (though come to think of it, neither do I with my bird photos). This is ok as birds do not have teeth anyway). One strange thing about Chongming is the inevitable presence of people fishing. End of side note.

Late last month, while searching for bears , woodpeckers and spirits of Greece, I deliberately avoided checking any news, especially from my home country. Steven had no binoculars, but impressively sharp eyes and great knowledge of birds. Every now and then, I need to cut the world off and clear my mind.

Feral Cats Are An Invasive Species in North America (and elsewhere)

I find it astonishing that people argue of whether feral cats are bad for birds in North America. In North America, you’ve got Bears at the large end, Cats in the middle, and at the smaller end, the Mustilids. How many wild birds are eaten by either feral Cats or “outdoor Cats?” Which would be even worse.

The style has been adopted enthusiastically by contemporary craft brewers, so there are a lot of creative variations out there on the delicious but austere originals. I don’t know of any other association with birds beyond the label, so I’m inclined just to move on to the tasting notes because there’s a lot to cover in this one.
