Yesterday, in the comments of An Affront to the Idea of Family , Brian wrote: I understand your concern for those cows that were beat by that man and the unfortunate death of all the cows that died in the snow storm. I am always working for the best environment and the most comfortable situation for my cows, who I consider part of my family.

Chaka is a small town, with just about 2000 people. Apparently, this is another bird species that feels not so certain about flying (many humans have similar feelings). The Brown Accento r certainly ranks among the less attractive accentors, though of course, some species in this family set a rather high bar.

Since I found the first Pied Oystercatcher nest on Cable Beach in July 2000 I have learnt that the eggs rarely hatch due to predation and if they do hatch then a fully fledged chick is a rare and wonderful outcome. Family footprints. I have written many articles about our resident Pied Oystercatchers over the past twelve years.

Giant anteaters, giant otters, giant armadillos, giant river turtles, giant termites and giant waterlilies that can sustain the weight of a human baby! Guyana is probably most famous in birding circles for the unlikely discovery of a population of critically endangered Red Siskins in early 2000. Giant waterlilies at Karanambu Ranch.

The Edwards’s Pheasant is a rather smart blue-black member of the pheasant family and it may be on the edge of extinction. It has not been seen in its small home range in central Vietnam since around 2000. Conservationists searched intensively in 2011 but found none.

People ascribe near mythic status to the members of the family Delphinidae (and other related families). I had my first swim with Inshore Bottlenose Dolphins in Northland’s Bay of Islands back in 2000, and it was a tripy experience. Which has always mystified me slightly.
