Rather than go into great detail about a variety of vultures as we have in the past, I tracked down five great quotes about Turkey Vultures , or, at least, five quotes that are either about Turkey Vultures or generically about vultures. Today is International Vulture Awareness Day ! That’s just not right.

The layout of the lake has many small fingers that provide shelter, shallow water and many dense areas of Willow and Cottonwood trees. Both Turkey Vultures as well as Black Vultures can see seen circling over head. Here are a few of those Black Vultures…a bit high for a great photo but sometimes you take what you can get.

In doing so, they have provided food and shelter for thousands of migrant birds along with habitat for hundreds of resident birds and other players in the local Talamanca rainforest ecosystem. Lucky for us, our recent sojourn to Bananito coincided with a major push of migrants. Some were feeding on the ground. My eBird list from Saturday.

It seems that these people, who purport to claim to care so much about animals, are completely ignorant of the existence of any animal life beyond horses, cows, pigs, chickens and turkeys. People interested in animal welfare who are against this idea are completely missing the point here.
