Guyana had been suffering from an extensive period of drought when we visited, this lack of water ultimately was the primary reason which prevented us from searching for the Harpy Eagle. I had dreams of photographing this species, as I knew there were a few that notoriously frequented the grounds at Atta Lodge.

Pink-eared Ducks-a favourite duck

For obvious reasons it has listed under “other names” in field guides “Zebra Duck” and it is easily identified from all other duck species in Australia by its distinct stripes. It is a species we have not seen in flight dispersing to a new location, but they often fly up and back down rather vocally if disturbed.

The next spring she reported that her first class was doing very well and were able to rapidly identify nearly 200 species. clothing and shelter. But this also struck me in other ways. Sergio and I continue to a sloth shelter, where, waiting for the tour, I sit in a café. But why would someone look for that, an easy and common one among the 920+ bird species of Costa Rica? Watching my first Brown Pelicans , I am inhaling deeply and commenting to Sergio Arias how strong the scent is.
