It needs to be properly medicated and triaged. Most likely the bird will need to be medicated for a few days “just in case.”. Ok, so you’ve rescued a bird. If you have the desire to rescue and feed baby birds, become a volunteer with a federally permitted bird rehabber; we can always use the help! Find a box.

We are off to rescue a Bald Eagle, kiddo!” Even as a veteran wildlife rehabilitator, I could scarcely believe the sight before me. We medicated her for maggots, picked at least 100,000 of the creepy critters from her abdomen, and finally treated the injury. “Hurry,” he told the sheriff. I said, and off we went.

She was tired, thin, and had several medical issues. She was rescued, put back into her crate, and returned to the Raptor Trust. The naturalist got out of his car, picked her up, took the tape off her legs, and took her to a local zoo. One of the animal keepers brought her to me, and I put her in my clinic. to find out her actual age.

On August 21st, Maryjane Angelo of Skye’s Spirit Wildlife Rehabilitation in Pennsylvania received a call from a man who said his nephew was standing in the middle of a rural road, guarding a Bald Eagle. She gave him pain medication, checked in with her veterinarian, then settled him into a hospital box for the night.
