We receive nestling owls who have been fed nothing but hamburger, whose bones are so brittle from lack of calcium that they break when they try to stand. Teach her to do the right thing, even if it makes her a little sad, because help without knowledge is no help at all. In a perfect world, people would know better.

Now, according to what I wrote above, there really shouldn’t be any dippers in Berlin, right? Therefore, those very few northern winter guests that reach Germany are concentrated in our largest northern German cities, Berlin and Hamburg. Ridiculous really, but there you go. There are in winter.

I watched Flow last night and though I did know about the evils of water privatization in other countries, I had no idea that communities (Michigan is featured) right here in the US are fighting huge multi-nationals for their own water. But it's time I feel as bad as if the water was a burger.

Animal rights is neither progressive nor conservative. Moore looks like he has eaten one too many hamburgers.) Why animal rights is considered a progressive cause is mind-boggling. Why does it not call for the abolition of factory farming? Instead, it seeks to reform it. Many progressives care only about human beings.

The dogs operate on what’s real and present to them right now: scent/no scent, here/not here. It doesn’t take much for them to learn that we need them to find human scent –and not other animals, dropped hamburgers, or unspecified gook. Search dogs don’t work with these kinds of preconceptions. They don’t assume anything is a given.
