Kitten Rescue is a wonderful animal rescue organization! Founded in 1997, it has become one of the largest animal rescue groups in Los Angeles. Kitten Rescue volunteers place approximately 1,000 cats and kittens into new homes every year. Kitten Rescue’s goal is to help Los Angeles become a no-kill city.

Sarah Atlas is a search-and-rescue dog handler, one of many civilian volunteers who serve with New Jersey Task Force 1. They were to be deployed to Ground Zero with 200 other members of New Jersey Task Force 1, including structural engineers and medical workers, as well as other search-and-rescue people.

The small group was a good counterpart to the large, convivial ABA Safari group of 98 birders. That’s a lot, and the organizers of the safari did an excellent job of creating an environment that offered small group birding during the day and a birders party every night. Every study brings up new questions–many new questions–and Brooke spends a lot of text explaining why every study is specific, how there are really no generalizations to be made across the group of birds covered in this book. Speaking of back-of-the-book materials, there is no bibliography.

The group is called WING-IT (Wildlife In Need Group In Tulsa) and is now part of Tulsa Audubon , a mutually beneficial partnership which furthers the goals of both. He was right; a cheerful, enthusiastic group of parka-clad people eventually arrived to watch slides, listen to tales of bird rescue and rehab, and buy some of my books.
