Who would have thought that a post defending hunting game in general would have not been universally acclaimed? And embattled minority should be protected. A hungry child should be fed.

What could motivate gunmen (I cannot call them hunters) in two states to deliberately kill North America’s tallest and most critically endangered bird? It may be as sick as deliberately targeting an endangered species for death. That’s what you do with other game, right? Speculation is useless in acts of vandalism.

This Lion should not be shot, as it is a protected reserve that forbids shooting. There are times when acting in the conservation interest of a species or ecosystem means that the welfare of specific animals is compromised, which is a fancy way of saying that conservationists sometimes have to kill animals for the greater good.
