and he was right, of course. The next couple of days were more about family than birding. However, the last few hours were absolutely worth the trouble as I drove through springtime Extremadura and southern Portugal. May is just an excellent time to visit Spain and Portugal.

There are dog fights and dog attacks in Portugal and, per the December 5 post , the government came up with some legislation without consulting any animal rights groups. In the Azores, where my family is from, I don't think there are any laws whatsoever. Tags: dog attacks portugal dog fighting.

A British student studying in Porto, Portugal, was handing out leaflets in front of "Beigel," a fur shop. There were plenty of shocked witnesses and the student is going to press charges upon her return from Xmas with her family. Tags: fur portugal.
