Accessibility Matters

I do not (yet) have any accessibility issues, and my only experience regarding anything akin to accessibility has been limited to the period when my daughter was in a stroller, which presents only a tiny sliver of the challenges faced by many. Hunting is also prohibited in this area of the refuge.

This was a pleasant surprise if only because I’m so used to the more technical views presented in his field guides. Also, I wish I could use the tiny birds for my own presentations. They portray the nesting cycles of Mallard, Red-tailed Hawk, and American Robin, illustrating the various ways in which birds create families.

The Nonessential Whooping Crane

With the proposed hunting seasons on sandhill cranes being discussed in Tennessee, Kentucky and Wisconsin, we must not forget the whooping crane, which travels and winters in the big sandhill crane flocks. Eventually, I found the lone whooping crane present at the refuge by its call. I knew I’d never heard that before.

Sydney Harbour National Park

Also present are the large Red Wattlebird. Also common is the White-browed Scrubwren , a member of the Australasian warbler family. It reaches the edge of its range at Sydney, but I have seen it in this park a few times, including youngsters being raised by currawongs. This noisy species is often heard throughout the park.
