These researchers preferred this property for their research due to its close proximity to the Arenal Volcano and resplendent natural environment. When the researchers returned home during their time off, they would tell their friends and family about the magic of this place, and year after year more and more people began arriving.

So this new research is very interesting, and we applaud the scientists for their work. These researchers carried out two different major efforts that in combination advance our understanding of the evolution of the bird beak. Figuring that out would be a next step in this research, and will likely prove difficult.

New England Reptile Distributers just released a video explaining a terrible incident involving the FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission). FWC officers arrived at a reptile facility and forcefully killed 29 reticulated pythons, 5 Burmese pythons, and 1 pregnant Boa constrictor. They respond to pain in the same way.

The Refuge is now home to nearly 200 species of birds, over 50 species of mammals, 25 species of reptiles and amphibians, and a wide variety of insects, fish and plants. The mosaic of wetlands, open water, bottomland forests and prairies provides habitat for numerous mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish and nearly three hundred bird species.

It’s useful to remember the names of the two suborders of Testudines (the reptile order that includes all turtles): Cryptodira (turtles that retract their heads vertically and sea turtles–most of the turtles in the world) and Pleurodirans (turtles that retract their heads sideways).
