I received an e-mail from the well-meaning Wendy at Compassion in World Farming (which I find an odd combination of words) regarding Egypt's pig cull and asking me to send my protest to the Egyptian Government. Yes, I sent the protest. Tags: Activism Current Affairs Ethics Language. Here's my question: What is "a humane future?"

Briefly: Zoning board in Buffalo unanimously approved plans for a slaughterhouse (as in, a place where chickens, goats, lambs and calves will be killed and chopped up). Felicia Horton inquires/protests: "If they're cutting up [animals], are you going to want to come up front an eat some meat?"

But Foot doesn't buy it and asks--again-- Yet over the long history of animal rights activism in Canada, it's hard to find evidence that the larger aims of such protests are ever achieved. Notwithstanding their local tactical victories, are animal rights protesters really as effective as they appear?

It has absolutely nothing to do with any genuine environmentalist ethic. And not all organizations that advocate for animals claim to have a "genuine environmentalist ethic," and the ones that do must subscribe to his ethic or they're not genuine? Again, they just want to prevent the "cruel" hunters from killing Bambi's mother.

According to Reuters: Japan, which considers whaling to be a cherished cultural tradition, killed 679 minke whales despite plans to catch around 850. Here are some highlights: Mantle: "How do you respond to: Yeah, you may find something that benefits humans, but it's not worth it and it's not ethically right?" That's one result.

I understand the impulse to do " something " that alters the number of animals created to be used and killed and the suffering of the ones created. 3) They disagree with me, not about sentience, but about some god putting animals here for us, or some other reason why we can kill animals even though their sentient.
