Ebay Bans Ivory Sales

An eBay spokesman said the move was the best way to help African and Asian elephants. The endangered animals are often hunted for their ivory tusks. The ban comes as a conservation group prepares to release a report critical of the auction site. Tags: ivory elephants.

One study found that birds living in Botswana had elevated levels of lead in their bloodstreams during hunting season, presumably coming from lead bullets used on animals killed by hunters. A slightly more surprising threat for the vultures comes from elephants. Elephants destroy the trees the vultures live and nest in.

Little Big Year – Week 35: Route 66, Tucumcari and The Albuquerque area

American Kestrels, Cooper Hawks , and Northern Harriers also found the hunting here to their liking. A small group of Canada Geese fly over, and out in front of their formation was a pair of Sandhill Cranes. It got to within about 15 yards, calmly hunting for breakfast as it came. This was a first!
