But in the case of Harris Hawks , this mentality jumps the species barrier and they form a strong bond with their human partners, readily accepting their non-avian hunting companions as members of their pack. Take lions, wolves, hyenas to name a few.

Then I started volunteering at The Raptor Center to give educational programs with live birds of prey and my trainer was a master falconer. Falconers must always keep their birds somewhat wild so if they get separated or the bird flies off never to return, it can still survive on it’s own without human intervention.

Other wildlife-dependent recreation on national wildlife refuges includes wildlife photography, environmental education, wildlife observation and interpretation. Note in this 2010 video, birders, birdwatching and kayakers are mentioned, not hunters. Visitors are encouraged to wear hunter orange during hunting seasons for safety.
