Belgrade, the capital city of Serbia, offers several great birding spots and here are some recommendations for areas to go birding in and around the city, how to get there by public transport, and some of the bird species you might expect to see. It is home to almost a hundred bird species, including woodpeckers and songbirds.

As with anywhere in Singapore, it is easy to access by public transport. Paddyfield Pipit. Despite the area being an industrial park there are some great birding opportunities to be had at Changi Business Park and it is definitely worth a visit. We were then able to walk down Upper Thomson Road and get public transport back to our hotel. Asian Glossy Starlings , Javan Mynas , Spotted Doves , Common Flameback , Pacific Swallows , Yellow-vented Bulbuls , Common Kingfisher , White-bellied Sea Eagle and Red Junglefowl were soon on the list. Another really good feature of Singapore is the excellent public transport system. House Swifts , Pacific Swallows , a Brahminy Kite and a White-bellied Sea Eagle soared through the sky. The dense trees close to the river offered Collared Kingfishers and Sunda Pygmy Woodpecker. Collared Kingfisher.

And of course, two raptors that are a part of North American birding history: the Great Black Hawk of Portland and the Steller’s Sea-eagle of Boothbay Harbor and other local areas. ( I’ve missed this information, especially when I travel to Los Angeles to visit my daughter and her family.

Taxi v SMRT – The SMRT is the excellent, clean, safe, reliable, cheap transport system of Singapore. The path along the right (east) bank of the river leads along a cycle path with Asian Koels , Yellow-vented Bulbuls , Laced Woodpeckers and Oriental Magpie Robins all likely. Spotted Wood-owl.
