So today I let me dogs out in their little play fence outside and I noticed they were reaching outside the gate with their paws and digging up a ton of hair and grass. I walked over and saw they had revealed a rabbit burrow with maybe four or five baby rabbits, not sure how old they were but their eyes were closed.

Unless she is accompanying her dog, he stays in a fenced-in area. She doesn’t use pesticides, she loves the local wildlife, and she does everything a good pet owner should do. But one day, unbeknownst to her, a wild rabbit dug under the fence. She let her dog out, he spotted the rabbit, and took off like a bullet.

Two full days at Hart Mountain Wildlife Refuge, three days at Dog Lake, and a short visit to Upper Cottonwood Lake brought back many great memories, in addition to a nice list of birds. Then, to finish the week, we visited the famous, and not necessarily for all the right reasons, Malhuer Wildlife Refuge. The bunny got away.
