Of course, the problem here, as in the entire book, is that factory farming is clearly the enemy, while killing animals unnecessarily isn't given any more airtime than Foer's personal, philosophical moments that he doesn't require of anyone else. In all fairness, most people's only reference is PETA.

Of course I was appalled, but out there in the mainstream world, she is an outlier. If that means volunteering at a dog rescue or giving money to PETA, all while eating and using animals, at least you’re doing something. Our aim of this week is to educate people about the cruelty of greyhound racing and of course call for an end to government grants to this business and our sights of course are to see an end to this cruel exploitive industry. Also, John Carmody is PETA's spokesperson for Ireland. I wonder how well that works.
