A family motel and passion for responsible ecotourism brought her home to the Oregon Coast where she and her husband, Erik, adventure and record a podcast ( Hannah and Erik Go Birding ), created in an effort to inspire others to get out and bird. This is Hannah’s first contribution to 10,000 Birds. I love to go on cruises.

Their text is combined with 200 (rough count) brightly colored photographs, many full or three-quarter page in size, and 10 charts and diagrams. There is so much here!

Cathy discovered that speaking through Henry, in his voice, gave her a freedom of expression she did not have in her standard therapeutic role, and Henry’s voice became the easiest way to reach and teach humans. I enjoy collecting children’s books about birds and nature that I come across in the expected (book stores) and unexpected (academic library conference reports) places. Here are three excellent but very different children’s books I enjoyed this year (two were published in 2013, one in 2011). The birds thrive.

I come from a family where the worse the situation, the faster and more furiously the wisecracks fly, so I suppose I’m hardwired to look for humor. It was the first time I went to a wildlife rehabilitators conference. And don’t forget, I’m the one coming out of solitude and ready to rejoin humanity in March of 2020.
