In 2022, the 10,000 Birds eBird Collaborative submitted 1,837 checklists from 9 countries ( Australia , China , Costa Rica , Mexico , Saint Lucia , Serbia , Trinidad and Tobago , United Kingdom , and the United States ) and observed 1,273 species. The Collaborative life list increased to 4,140.

Thai Highway Police in Sa Kaeo province have rescued 24 baby crab-eating monkeys, arresting a Thai driver and five undocumented Cambodians attempting to smuggle the endangered species to Cambodia, where they were destined for cooking pots in.Chinese specialty restaurants in Cambodia.

We have seen most of the individually marked birds that have been seen in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China this year back in Broome, so that is encouraging to both us and the overseas observer. The Red Knot are very good at hiding amongst the flock and they are one of the species that are of most concern.

The ongoing destruction of Nanhui, where the species can frequently be seen on migration, certainly will not help. Judging from the facial expression of this White-shouldered Starling , I would rather not have an annoyed bird of this species as a roommate. The species has reversed sex roles, with the males doing the incubating.

To the birder, this begs the question: what species of birds appear in the Twelve Days of Christmas ? This gift is no doubt one of fancy domesticated chickens ( Gallus gallus domesticus ) from France, cooked perhaps in the Parisian style. Of particular note is the song’s emphasis on avifauna.
