During our three weeks in Singapore we encountered many a family of Red Junglefowl- Gallus gallus in various locations. Red Junglefowl are under threat in Singapore due to habitat loss and inter-breeding, but we observed them most days on our hiking trips around the island and also on Pulau Ubin. Male Red Junglefowl.

From discussions with people who buy from breeders, I understand the reasoning behind getting a purebred dog when it comes to the hunting or working breeds. I'm sorry, every cat I've ever seen pretty much eats, sleeps and uses a litter box.

They breed up here, and spend their winters (usually) in the lower reaches of the Arctic and near polynyas (year round ice free waters) such as the North Water Polynya between Ellesmere Island and Groenland. Lemmings can have four or five litters a year of as many eight young. Did I mention they’re fast?
