As I am already familiar with CL Companion, ELs and NLs, as well as the ATS/STX scopes, now I had a chance to try those toys I am not familiar with, such as hunting EL Range binoculars with built-in electronics telling the user the distance and an azimuth angle (interesting, but I still prefer my binoculars without batteries).

While the females are much drabber by comparison, their gold/tan color and black spotting makes them stand out from other species as well. Partners in Flight estimates that the global breeding population is around 50 million; 30% of which can be found in North America and Canada. In Hawaii, they are found as high as 11,000 feet !

For comparison , the System is much smaller than the Bureau of Land Management (about 247 million) and the Forest Service (192 million), but slightly larger than the National Park Service (80 million). Farallon NWR , a group of islands near San Francisco, hosts the largest colonies of breeding seabirds south of Alaska.

Two-thirds of the world’s population breeds colonially on Greek islands. Unlike other falcons, they do not breed in spring, but in late summer, to exploit the abundance of songbirds and pick up those first-time (and last-time) migrants from the sky. Some time later, one Western Marsh Harrier flushes up about forty Eurasian Teal.

While regular in winter, Pygmy Cormorants do not breed in the vicinity and are absent in spring and summer. There is a breeding pair of White-tailed Eagles at the Veliko Ratno Island and they can be seen year-round, but the best chances are in winter, when they hunt ducks around the island.
