This one was at the Ras al Khor Sanctuary in Dubai where a “caretaker” is employed to ensure that visitors to the hide are safe, that they respect the birds’ refuge and don’t run off with the scope which is provided free of charge. Anyway, back to the bird. The bird featured today is a female of the eastern race P.a.

But I figured there had to be some birds there. So there would be some birding. The most valuable site I found was UAE Birding , an excellent site full of location guides, recent sightings, and a busy forum where its members discuss all aspects of birdiness in the area. The internet provided a great deal more information.

The trend at this time of year is a downturn in shared lists and birds reported, nevertheless, 12 (is this a record?) Our two newest contributors have shared from Mexico and China, bringing the countries birded this month (also including; Costa Rica, Greece, Serbia, USA, UK, India, UAE and New Zealand) to 10. 13 Jun 2019.
