I had such a good time exploring the zone that I went back again the following week, something I rarely do, given that I have so many quality birding sites to choose from in my region. These tiny birds like to sing from any available perch, and have the amusing habit of doing backflips in the air while they sing. And they sing a lot!

Last weekend, I went on a birding binge. I spent two full days where the birding was near constant, and, just to keep the binoculars from being neglected, topped it off with another half day of birding on our drive back from Cano Negro, Costa Rica. Like most of my birding weekends, this one began somewhere in the Central Valley.

The cuisine was magnificent, especially lamb. The bear walks are relatively easy and, while possible in sneakers, some light ankle-support hiking shoes might be preferable. Also, trekking poles proved useful. At one occasion, during the hike Tsanakis collected wild mushrooms and in a restaurant, asked the chef to prepare those for us.

After a bit of searching, I found that it appears to be part of an even longer commandment: “Rise and rise again until lambs become lions” This is pretty serious stuff coming from a can of beer; all I wanted was a drink, thank you. The Bible, possibly, with all this quasi-Messianic, New Testament talk of lambs and lions?
