Tundra Swan at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge

Late Saturday afternoon a Tundra Swan was reported from the south end of the East Pond at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. I was psyched to see the one that had been reported but first I had to do some other birding on Sunday morning to keep my year list moving along. Once I got my trip out to Breezy Point (four year birds!)

Finding a Ross’s Goose in a Flock of Snow Geese

After spending the early morning on Saturday birding at Alley Pond Park I was happy with having seen my first Eastern Phoebe of the year and thought I could rest on my laurels for the rest of the weekend. And the West Pond was covered with Snow Geese , with well over 1,500 birds all around the edges.
