Some animals are injured and killed by wildfires. Birds are able to fly away, but their nests and eggs can be destroyed. I was able to visualize six of the bird houses that survived. I spent this past weekend in Saugerties at my folks’ house in order to look for Easter eggs, let Desi enjoy time with his cousins, and generally have a good ol’ time with family. Should you ever find yourself in Saugerties with some time to kill you could do far worse than to visit the Great Vly. Conk-a-ree!!!

The two most prolific contributors, Pat and Tom, have been sharing their birding space in Costa Rica. The beats have now contributed more checklists than birds. During October, 7 countries (Costa Rica, Australia, USA, India, Hong Kong, UK, Serbia) were birded by 11 beats who shared 135 checklists and noted 697 species.
