We also saw a leopard, but it was the A to Z that sticks in the mind. Incidentally, encounters with both aardvarks and zorillas are rare – it’s much easier to see lions and leopards. I’ve also sat for hours in unabated hides in Bulgaria where it’s a matter of luck whether you see a bear or not. in the evening.

• Tigers and other big cats are able to mimic other animals, tigers in specific mimic deer, bear, cattle and monkeys and the South American Margay can mimic the call of baby monkeys to lore adults. Deer, cattle, camel and goats are more closely related to dolphins and whales then they are with horses. .

For you and me, there are about 200 bird species, but for proper tourists, there seem to be only five species in the reserve: Bengal Tiger , Leopard , Sloth Bear , Indian Wild Dog (Dhole) and the Gaur. One of them has a scarred shoulder, claw marks, but not big enough for Tiger – probably a Leopard.

These days, the species shares habitats with Tigers, Snow Leopard, Bears, etc. During the Pleistocene, Dholes were found across the Northern Hemisphere, including Europe and North America, sharing their space with sabre-toothed cats. If they can survive next to such neigbours, how come they are endangered?

There are five species of seal that have been recorded in the Ross Sea – Crabeater , Weddell , Leopard , Ross (first described during the James Clark Ross’s expedition) and Southern Elephant Seal. And I need you to vote for me and send me to Antarctica, so I could write wildlife blogs on Adélie Penguins and Leopard Seals.
