An enormous victory was achieved for animals this week when nearly 200 dogs and 54 cats were rescued from a North Carolina animal testing facility that closed its doors after an undercover investigation revealed apparent abuse of the animals by workers at the facility. From the PR Newswire.

Authorities found the dog, a German shepherd mix named Bruce, in a small crate on March 18. Oh, and when they shut the electricity off, she moved into a hotel room without the dog. Tags: animal abuse. I hope this woman rots in jail, but I doubt that will happen in Texas.

Before 2008, only one person had been incarcerated for dog fighting in Georgia. Considering the state had one of the weakest dog-fighting laws in the nation, that's no compliment. But since a new and tougher dog fighting law was passed in May 2008, multiple arrests have been made, with more on the horizon.

I rejoined my local animal shelter's volunteer program a few months ago (long story as to why I quit in the first place). Very sweet and gentle animal (I have a soft spot for pits.and pugs!) Someone had called in an animal cruelty report. I had a couple of dogs when I was a kid, but I mostly grew up with cats.

News of the Weird Owners claim dog died from being in non-ventilated Animal Control vehicle. How should Animal Control evaluate their claim? Stick another dog in the same situation and see if it dies too! It was an "experiment" you see, even though they are just Animal Control, not a research facility.
