Some people think it’s just plain fun to kill enormous numbers of animals and pile up their bodies, and when there’s no “bag limit” it’s legal to do so. It also brings to mind the uncontested link between animal abuse and violent behavior toward fellow humans. Plain old fashioned Fun.”. This is baloney.

Tell me, what happens if we rip away hunting when hunting protects more wildlife land in Africa than national parks? Although lip service was paid to the fact that lions are endangered and a lion was poached, the language of anger was the language of animals rights. This is of course an anathema for many in the animal rights camp.

They are not necessarily the biggest African animals, but represented those that were considered a real hunter’s worthy prey or “game” – the African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Black Rhinoceros, Leopard and king of the jungle, the Lion (which of course doesn’t inhabit jungle but savanna!).

The house is a four bedroom, four bath two story, with a deck running around three sides of the upper story, great for wildlife viewing. Just stepping away from the birds for a minute, because you can’t really do any kind of story about Kruger National Park, and not at least mention the animals.

When I was a preschooler, I wasn’t allowed to watch much television, but I did get a double-dose of public programming — the PBS station out of Buffalo and the CBC beaming across the border from Ontario both showed a lot of material that met with my mother’s approval and my own.

Dedicated keepers at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Nairobi Elephant Nursery in Kenya protect baby Shukuru from the cold and rain, and the risk of pneumonia, with a custom-made raincoat. Sheldrick is fourth-generation Kenya-born and has spent the better part of her life tending wild animals.
