Fish and Wildlife Service has listed the “Rufa” population of Red Knot ( Calidris canutus rufa ) as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The other sub-species, Calidris canutus roselaari , migrates along the Pacific Coast and breeds in Alaska and the Wrangel Island in Russia.

Most of the usual birds seem present, a frog or two call from a small wetland, and a few other expected animals are there too. During our time travels, we would note vast changes in many other birds and animals. We would see how species that used to be common, even abundant, became remnants of their former, robust populations.

The Northwestern Hawaiian Islands are home to some of the largest assemblages of breeding seabirds in the United States. These islands and their surrounding waters are protected as part of the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument. Invasive species , particularly rodents, have long been a problem on the Hawaiian archipelago.

Both species are endangered and it is illegal to cross breed them. The Environmental and Animal Society of Taiwan (EAST) said Huang, who possesses an array of wildlife, should be dealt with harshly to deter others from copying the behavior. Cross-breeding two protected species is completely against nature.
