In my view, the ABA should strongly consider: (1) becoming more welcoming to new birders, and (2) increasing and formalizing ABA advocacy on issues relevant to birders. * * *. Of course, it should include an offer to join the ABA, perhaps at a discounted rate. Secondly, the ABA should increase and formalize its advocacy for birders.

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act was not only a bipartisan legislative triumph, it was a model for legislative advocacy, how nonprofits can successfully work with legislators and politicians. I think birders will enjoy reading this political history of the MBTA.

Vegan education/advocacy for animals is easiest for me when I know my audience. Of course, those people, who are often the "spiritual" ones, are particularly frustrating to deal with. I was going in a different direction with this post when I read Deb's " Effective Images in Advocacy: Do We Know What Works? this morning.

Of course I was appalled, but out there in the mainstream world, she is an outlier. Of course that can be debated. What about their horror?
