Proceeds from the show will be used to further Up For Pups animal advocacy efforts.

Hey, if it's important enough to mention in his speech that he was getting a puppy, it's important enough for us to talk about it. He did say in the past that he would adopt a dog. Let's hope he sends a progressive message by giving a shelter dog a new home. Maybe he could get two.

There is a bit of a drama around the adoption of the Portuguese (yay!) Water Dog puppy Bo. Some are saying that President Obama broke his promise to get a rescue dog. Bo is not really a rescue dog. But he wasn't really adopted from a breeder either. Others are accusing him of getting a dog from a breeder.

One pet street dog can change the hearts and minds of dozens or hundreds of other potential adopters by showing who street dogs really are. Yup, I was rescued in Africa.

At an NYC puppy shelter a few weeks ago, my mind was just about made up when I met Chester – The cutest Lab puppy I’d ever seen. After talking to the owner of the shelter however, I learned there was more to adopting little Chester, or any pet for that matter, than my love at first bark. Don’t let the dog eat your homework.

In all, 7,820 pounds of food was donated to two shelters renowned for their care of senior dogs: Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco and Castaway Critters in Harrisburg, Pa. Also joining the group was the Iams Home 4 the Holidays Adoption Angel Jack with his adopted dog Jane (Jack adopted Jane from Bideawee in October).

We weren't planning to adopt another. but a friend who volunteers for a rescue group told me of a greyhound event around the corner from my house. When we adopted them we made a commitment to care for them for the rest of their lives.
