They can say that the puppy was needing to be re-homed, therefore it's like adopting from a rescue group. But I didn't campaign for a presidential greyhound for exactly the same reason Obama's decision was disappointing: it glorifies pure breed dogs.

At an NYC puppy shelter a few weeks ago, my mind was just about made up when I met Chester – The cutest Lab puppy I’d ever seen. His large pouty eyes, silky fur-coat, and silly little paws on which he fumbled all over the hay-covered kennel, lured me in like a dog to a bone. Don’t let the dog eat your homework.

Violet Rays is not a kid dog. So when we adopted a human baby we knew we'd have to teach that human to avoid Violet. The growing little human in the house was basically taught to stay far away from dogs and respect their space. We weren't planning to adopt another. And he's child friendly.
