As the name suggests, they rescue rabbits, but they also rescue other small animals like ferrets, and other small rodents. To accommodate the sanctuary rabbits, our adoption center and our compassionate human visitors, Rabbit Meadows plans to build a series of small cottage-like structures among the picturesque fir trees on its grounds.

In an act of kindness, the police took the dog, which was a Greyhound female, to the nearby Nuneaton Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, run by a man named Geoff Grewcock and known as a willing haven for Animals abandoned, orphaned or otherwise in need. They named her Jasmine, and they started to think about finding her an adoptive home.

The results will inform a vision document to be adopted in July 2011 at a national conference to guide the NWR system for wildlife protection into the next decade and beyond. To that end, the principals have created a terrific site called Conserving the Future: Refuges and the Next Generation to elicit votes and comments. Wicked, right?

The kiwi (note, Maori loanwords do not get an ‘s’ when made plural) were first used as logos in the 19th century, and were quickly adopted as a a national emblem before the turn of the century. Searching for kiwi is unlike spotlighting that I’ve done while looking for nocturnal animals in the past. Wicked, right?

I am inclined to believe so.

They are all wonderful people and they are all animal lovers. But I’ve learned we love animals in very different ways. “Why can’t the kittens be adopted,” I asked in her comments section. I come from a large family: five sisters, two brothers and almost everyone has kids.
