10,000 Birds

As someone who lives close enough to Buffalo to feel both tremendous fear and relief regarding the 7 feet of snow that engulfed that part of Western NY, I can assure you: November weather is WILD. No snow here!

Saving the Drowning Cormorant, or the Kerkini Lake, Greece

10,000 Birds

When I came here for the first time in 2014, I stayed at the Limneo B&B in the Chrisochorafa Village and met its owner, Nikos Gallios. 10,000 Birds

This past Saturday, 8 March, was perhaps the nicest day of 2014 so far in New York. The sun shone all day and the mercury reached fifty degrees Fahrenheit, which is only slightly above average for this time of year but felt like a heat wave considering the frigid temperatures we have endured this winter.

She also grew up in upstate New York, which makes me wonder if she had a hand in that Buffalo mystery bird page?). Mystery images were one of the innovations of The Shorebird Guide (2006, co-authored by Crossley with Michael O’Brien and Kevin T. Karlson) and they have been incorporated by a number of bird identification guides since.
