Enjoy the guest post (thanks Susan): As I write this, my black cat, Sasha, is going through her pantomime, telling me that she either wants to go out, or she wants to eat. My youngest daughter spotted the exceedingly shy black cat and wanted her. Because she had never been socialized, this cat did not even know how to purr.

Local shelters and rescue organizations take in animals displaced from earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, house fires, and other tragedies. Donate Food. Adopt a displaced pet. Petfinder.com lists animals for adoption.

Dogs in kennels, boarding facilities, or animal shelters, at dog shows, or in close proximity to other dogs are at a higher risk of contracting canine influenza. Talk to your vet to see if your dog(s) should get the dog flu vaccine, and be sure to keep an eye on your pet to keep them healthy and happy! DOG FLU SYMPTOMS: Fever.

A similar problem is also occurring in the United States, where the Humane society of the United states claims that up to 8 million animals enter animal shelters each year, showing that this is an international problem. This would cover vet bills of up to $6,220 and therefore isn’t to be scoffed at.
