Pigs Used in Explosives Tests in Britain

I wish we could stop killing animals for reasons related to killing humans. Some 119 pigs were used in the research at the Government's military research laboratory Porton Down, near Salisbury, between 2006 and 2009. He said 25 pigs were used in 2006, 19 in 2007, 40 in 2008, and 35 in 2009. From the BBC News.

University of Utah Continues Getting Bad Press

Most of their animals get put down. Researchers told the Tribune that the testing gave the shelter animals "a second chance at life," while records obtained by the Tribune revealed that the labs had killed 116 of the 190 strays last year. Only 74 animals survived the research process to be adopted out as pets.

Harvard Medical School Facility Accused of Improper Research Reporting

DeMuth Agrees to Plea Bargain

Scott DeMuth, a sociology graduate student at the University of Minnesota charged last year with felony conspiracy under the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act agreed yesterday to a plea bargain. DeMuth was arrested and charged in November 2009 after refusing to cooperate with a grand jury investigating the Iowa break-in.

Wisconsin-Madison Cleared by USDA

The University of Wisconsin-Madison was cleared of animal welfare violations in a report released yesterday. It had twenty violations back in December 2009. Tags: animal research animal laboratories wisconsin. Of course they passed the January inspection.
