Data collection for the Second Breeding Bird Atlas Project of Pennsylvania took place from 2004 through 2009, roughly twenty years after the first official atlas project, 1983 through 1989. It was a gigantic, innovative project that collected and catalogued massive amounts of data about birds, habitat, and ecological change.

It depicted a Common Loon ( Gavia immer ) sitting on eggs on a seemingly crude nest. He died on July 27, 2008. Published in 1966, it is a collection of brief profiles and magnificent portraits of 56 of the region’s most characteristic birds. Common Loon ( Gavia immer) This was a different artist.

The first, Field Guide to the Birds of Trinidad & Tobago, was published by Christopher Helm in London in 2007 and then published in the United States in 2008 by Yale University Press. Do not buy these books, unless you are collecting old bird books. There are two editions of the Kenefick book, the field guide.

The early threats of guano harvesting and egg collecting have been replaced by the more ominous threats of oil pollution and overfishing of their favorite food source – pilchards. On the mainland they face predation from domestic cats, dogs, genets, mongoose and Cape Gulls which steal their chicks and eggs.
