Did you know that every year, of the 8 million dogs and cats that enter animal shelters, 3 million of these healthy and treatable pets are euthanized? Luckily, The Shelter Pet Project hopes to change this! Here is one of the great PSAs that The Shelter Pet Project has out. It is such a sad statistic.

Purina ONE has teamed up with Martha Stewart to visit animal shelters from San Francisco to NYC throughout the month of February. At each stop, Purina ONE will give out free Purina ONE dog and cat food to all attendees (11,000 bags across the nation), and also host adoption events at local shelters.

Every year, roughly 3 million lost dogs and cats end up in shelters in the United States. While many animal shelters already struggle on a day-to-day basis to care for the millions of unwanted animals that are dropped at their door, the numbers have grown to an almost unmanageable degree over the last few years. And with the economy continuing in a state of recession, these numbers will continue to go up over the coming years.

The Blind Dog Rescue Alliance is a small group of volunteers in the United States and portions of Canada dedicated to helping blind and visually impaired dogs. They help through rescuing dogs in shelters, assisting blind dog owners, and educating the public about these wonderful dogs. Every dog deserves a good home!
