San Francisco – short of time and money.

10,000 Birds

However, my latest trip reminded me that when an out-of-town birder arrives in a strange city (in this case San Francisco ) pertinent information should be to hand. Black Oyster-catchers will usually be found on the rocks too, but this morning each of these species gave their best views in the receding waves.

Come@Me: Invasive Species Can Be Awesome

10,000 Birds

They get there by snatching the bread right out of your kid’s hand and maybe whacking him around a bit to boot. If we don’t like that, we should take it right up to the top (maybe she’d like her birds back while we’re at it.). Now we know they were wrong, but there’s a lesson about hubris there.

In 2014, the Florida Ornithological Society Records Committee (FOSRC) voted to add this species to the Florida state list. They were right! They are excellent parents!

Night Herons

10,000 Birds

We had been at sea for 5 days and 5 nights, over 100 miles off shore, sailing non-stop from the USA-Canada border to San Francisco. Both species frequent the marina that I live in, and are quite common throughout the entire tidal areas of the La Paz area. Go find some cool water and plop right down in and chill out!

The Pleasure and Pain of Pino Real

10,000 Birds

My first birding period was over 40 years ago, in the San Francisco Bay Area. But then I moved to Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, which has almost no opportunities to see interesting species (except for a good population of burrowing owls). This is Paul’s first post for 10,000 Birds. east of Morelia.
