Kea ( Nestor notabilis ) Kea are a species of alpine parrot endemic to New Zealand. They are excellent opportunists, and have developed a taste for meat to an extent almost unrivalled in the parrot order. They are famous for any number of reasons, most of which stem from their innate intelligence and curiosity.

A few Barbets

Finally, my personal favorite is the Great Barbet (Baihualing, Yunnan) – not because of its larger size, but because of its combination of colors that somehow manages to be colorful without being gaudy (something that parrots almost never seem to manage). Plus at my age, I should really like somewhat different music. Probably jazz.

Over 1,000 animals were rescued, including 500 bull finches and 300 picoplats, The rescued wildlife also included monkeys, parrots, macaws and other species from Venezuela. There was also over 400 lbs of "wild meat" (I don't want to know what that could be!).
