But once I get back home to Mexico, I will be climbing hills on livestock trails once again. Black-chinned Sparrow , a flagship species for this site. I say that I may someday be unable to climb hills all do heavy gardening, so I am going to do as much of these things right now as I possibly can.

The combination of over hunting, and the native animals susceptibility to diseases carried by domestic livestock that were allowed to graze there, completely eliminated these Bighorns by 1915. This small group of Pronghorn Antelope were right at the refuge entrance. The population is now estimated to be at over 500.
