This is how it looks like: Or at sunset: A species I did not come for from Shanghai is the Black-crowned Night Heron. They look crap but presumably offer some protection for the chicks, though not from each other (see the murderous activities within the nests in my previous post ). Yes, we have them in Shanghai as well.

Some of the more conservative Light-vented Bulbuls in my compound were trying to make the wearing of a tie mandatory for the species. Anyway, back to the somewhat less interesting birdlife within my prison-compound. A pair of White-rumped Munias has built a nest inside the compound, mostly for my benefit. So, I took these photos for them.

Furthermore, the total population in Hemis National Park is estimated at 50-60 individuals, making the park an important genetic reservoir for this species which is classified on the IUCN’s Red Data List as Endangered. This is the genus of the typical large cats including Lion, Leopard, Jaguar and Tiger.

Most of the people debating this issue are for conservation, they are against wild areas being destroyed and wild species being threatened with extinction. And embattled minority should be protected. Having decided to conserve species and save them from extinction, how do you go about doing it? A hungry child should be fed.

Due to the Ganges floods, their planned weekend of sailing through the labyrinth of channels turned into a week-long stay among about 270 Tigers , according to the 2011 census – the last population inhabiting mangroves and one of the highest concentrations anywhere on the planet!
