Another Bird Surprise for Costa Rica- Buff-collared Nightjar!

A bit larger than the Netherlands but with less land than Latvia and Ireland, in terms of territory, we rank 126. It was something that truly caught me by surprise, a bird usually heard or seen in Mexico or certain, out of the way gulches in Arizona. As far as countries go, Costa Rica is at the smaller end of the spectrum.

In April 2022, the Collaborative submitted 216 checklists from 4 countries ( Costa Rica , United States , Mexico , and the United Kingdom ) and observed 735 species. The 2022 year list stands at 1,023, and the life rises by a single species ( Great Swallow-tailed Swift seen in Mexico) to 4,114.

Not to be out-done, the beats have been out doing their thing as well. They have pushed the year list beyond 2K.
