It's great that they were saved, but t hey arrived at the rescue center in wretched condition. Please note that the illegal bile farm was Taiwanese-owned. I can't read such stuff without being sickened by my species. Thank Animals Asia for the rescue. Moon bears are rare, which makes this all the sadder.

Ok, so you’ve rescued a bird. Bird diets are specific to each species; liquids and food fed improperly can cause a bird to aspirate, get sick or die. It is illegal to keep a wild bird. If you have the desire to rescue and feed baby birds, become a volunteer with a federally permitted bird rehabber; we can always use the help!

The adults of most species will still care for the chicks no matter how much you touch them. It’s illegal to raise wild birds (even orphaned ones) without state and federal permits. At the end of the day, most of the baby birds dropped off to rehabbers do not need to be rescued. Do not worry about touching the baby birds.

The antwren had been elevated to species level and Hilton is just a sucker for anything Paulista, and besides, who needs a reason to go birding? His collection was impressive and overwhelmingly illegal so he will remain unnamed too. We were introduced to a local specialist, but this gentleman turned out to be interested in caged birds.
